4MLinux is a miniature Linux distribution focusing on four capabilities: maintenance (by using it as a system rescue live CD), multimedia (for example, for playing video DVDs), miniserver (using the inetd daemon), and mystery (meaning console games).

This is a core system (about 5 MB in size) for the 4MLinux 5.1 series. The system includes: Linux 3.7.1, glibc 2.15, and Busybox 1.20.2. All 4MLinux 5.1 applications have been compiled under Fedora 17 (x86/32-bit/SMP) with GNU Compiler Collection 4.7.0.

Il s'agit d'une version mise à jour de 4MLinux 4.1 édition du jeu, à l'aide de 4MLinux 5.0 comme le coeur du système. La collection 4MLinux contient, entre autres, les éléments suivants : jeux classiques « tir » (abus, Doom, Heretic, Hexen et tremblement de terre), Liero (un jeu « Worms-like » en temps réel), Lincity (une construction et un jeu de simulation de gestion), LGames (à l'aide de bibliothèques SDL) de Michael Speck et DOSBox 0.74 avec certains jeux Freeware DOS. ec64 (un émulateur Commodore C64) est également disponible.
This is an updated version of 4MLinux 4.1 Game Edition, using 4MLinux 5.0 as the core system. 5.0 Server Edition

Les serveurs contrôlés par le démon inetd sont maintenant: FTP (vsftpd 3.0.2), HTTP (Busybox 1.20.2) avec Telnet, SSH (Dropbear 2012.55), HTTPS (via Stunnel 3.22) et SFTP (OpenSSH 6.1p1).

Un serveur proxy (Polipo 1.0.4.1 avec Tor 0.2.3.25) et rdesktop 1.7.1 sont également disponibles.

L'environnement de programmation inclut la version CGI de PHP 5.4.10, la version minimale de Perl 5.16.2 et SQLite 3.7.15.

Les composants de sécurité principaux sont 4MLinux Firewall 5.0 (basé sur iptables 1.4.16.3) et Clam AntiVirus 0.97.6.
