Character Mode No Longer Functioning
From Tera Term version 4.63 (2009.7.5), default mode is changed.
If you set EnableLineMode=off, does the behavior of Tera Term change to what you want?

Tera Term
In TeraTerm 2.3, each character entered (without the "echo" option selected") would be transmitted to the host for processing and, at the host's discretion, echoed back to the user. It appears that the input is ONLY transmitted to the host when the user presses the Return Key. This does not work for async users and turning on local echo is not the right solution.
It appears that this is due to UNICODE Buffering but I am unclear as to how to prevent any buffering from occurring based on user interface and INI file documentation.
This flaw renders TeraTerm unusable on async sessions.
