FormatCheck is an application that screens flat
files (fixed and variable width) for violations in
the format of the data. The input files may
contain one record type or a mixture of record
formats, such as a file containing header and
detail records. It uses a set of XML files that
define the file formats that can be evaluated.
Each XML file defines the acceptable record
layout(s) for one input format. The application
supports a record-related XML schema definition.
This design makes updates and additions to record
definitions straightforward, requiring only an
update of the XML format definition.
