VIF (virtual discussion forum) is a forum
application. VIF is intended for a structured
discussion, starting from a high level problem
that is refined in subsequent steps until a
granularity is reached that allows the questions
to be answered. VIF offers a publication workflow
with integrated peer review system to ensure the
quality of all contributions. Thus, this
application is especially suited to discuss
complex and controversial questions.

This release is a big step towards readiness for production. The new VIF application builds on the OSGi component model. The whole application is assembled from different components. Thus, the VIF application is easily extensible and adaptable: bundles and the functionality provided therein can be added or replaced. The application is available in two versions: an out-of-the-box version useful for testing purposes that contains both a database and a Web server, and a production version that needs a MySQL database and a Tomcat servlet engine to be run.

Ce communiqué met en œuvre une fonctionnalité permettant de suspendre sa participation aux groupes de discussion dans lequel le participant est inscrit au cours d'un laps de temps spécifié. La possibilité de stocker les index de recherche Lucene dans la base de données a été ajouté (tblLuceneIndex une nouvelle table). This release implements a feature to suspend participation in the discussion groups in which the participant is registered during a specified time span. The ability to store Lucene search indexes in the database has been added (a new table tblLuceneIndex). The path to the menu in the change password and save personal data tasks has been fixed. A typo in permission table that prevented management of subscriptions has been fixed. In the VIF framework, Java2 connection pooling, JNDI resource access, and storing and retrieving of binary data to the persistence layer have been added.

of menu frames was fixed. Framework 0.9.7.3 was
fixed to work with Tomcat 5.
